Louis Vuitton Chip Technology

Louis Vuitton began phasing out traditional leather date code stamps and introducing embedded microchips (RFID tags) in their products in March 2021. These NFC-enabled chips are sewn into the lining, allowing for, but not limited to, easier authentication of bags and small leather goods, effectively replacing the visible date code format

Implementation: As of March 1, 2021, most new items were manufactured with these invisible chips.

Purpose: The chips are used to store product data, including manufacturing location and date, as part of an anti-counterfeit strategy.

Accessibility: The data on the microchips can only be read using special RFID scanners and apps accessible to Louis Vuitton staff.

Functionality: While some apps can detect the presence of the chip, the detailed, blockchain-protected information is proprietary.

Prior to this date, Louis Vuitton used a two-letter, four-number, date code format to identify the manufacturing location and date.

THEY WILL NOT AUTHENTICATE PRODUCTS NOT PURCHASE IN A LOUIS VUITTON STORE. I WENT TO LOUIS VUITTON STORE IN FLORIDA THEY INFORMED ME OF THIS AND SO IN ANOTHER STORE ALSO.

I want to relate the following about Authenticity. My wife when I first met her took me to a Dior store and purchased two Authentic Dior Bags, but honestly never used them. I sent them to Fashionphile to sell for her, they said they had to authenticate the bags first, I said okay. 

Even though they have the original receipt and tags with the bag which were never actually used, they came back as fake and charged me $170 per bag for authentication and returned shipping. I was in shock, luckily my wife had a friend who knew they were authentic and purchased this from her, at a realistic price.

Then, a friend of mine wanted to purchase a Chanel Le-boy bag and save tax and duty. I went to Australia and purchased the bag for about $500 less than in California. It was bought from a Chanel store in Sydney Australia, when she received it , I gave her the receipt. She took it to Chanel in South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, California. They told her it was fake, even with the Authentic receipt, I went to the store and gave them my credit card statement and the receipt and the bag again, and told them it’s definitely not fake, they said it will take us 5days to verify with Australia. After 5days, they came back and said it was authentic.
